THE LIL JOURNAL PROJECT (with Lil Blue Boo) ~ Day 5: handwriting as an artform   Leave a comment

Work is finally in progress again with “THE LIL JOURNAL PROJECT: DAY 5”!!!  I’m realizing more that Creative Art, no matter in what shape or form you do it in, can be very PEACEFUL, RELAXING, and helps turning those STRUGGLES into HEALING

THY SELF through Self-expressions…

The Lil Journal Project -- Day 5: handwriting as an artform

“Photo taken by the Indigenous Shamanic Winds — the project today I’m working on is with different styles and forms of Handwriting.”

“Handwriting is a disappearing artform.” I can still remember sitting at the desk in elementary school with those big wide papers they used for practicing handwriting — the ones with two wise parallel lines with a dotted parallel line in-between them — and remembering that I always wanted to add extra curves to the letters we were working on, but the teacher wanted the cursive to be the same as it was presented.

“How is your cursive looking lately?” I love writing in cursive, though it takes a lot of effort with my starting of arthritic hands, it helps keep them in tact, but I keep on writing past the point of pain. I had always loved my Dad’s and Grandmother’s cursive writing and took after them; and find that it’s easier on me writing in cursive on a slant going to the right of the page.

“What about your everyday penmanship?” I try and write everyday to keep it up to par. Some days are better than others. I can either read it or I cannot.

“Ordinary handwriting can be as much of an artform as calligraphy.” I took it upon myself at one point in my life writing in calligraphy. It was so fun, and I loved the old photos I’d seen of the Old Fashioned Days when there was a man sitting at the table in candlelight, dipping his Quill into the black ink, with a piece of rolled scroll before him on the table with writing on it. It showed me that many forms of writing, along with anything you do in life in general, can be done different ways. And when you find something you do well, stick with it — as well as when you find something you’re not so good at, practice it more and work with it when you can.

“Focus on your handwriting this weekend.” Well, it’s the beginning of the week now — but I tend to focus on it everytime I sit down and write!

“Experiment by using examples.” My goal is to look at different types of others’ handwritings and see where I can go creatively with them. As a kid, I loved dotting my I’s, making big Bubbles and Square letters…I’d like to look at the different styles of writing and incorporate them into my next Journal project by writing out a few quotes that I have recently found with my story to go with it in my sketchbook.

“It’s possible to modify your handwriting with practice.” OH YES! Practice is Encouragement to create something you want to do. I just may become amazed in the near future what I can really accomplish through this Journaling Project this week!
